The Four Stage Filtration Process (Guzzler Classic)

As you are operating your Vac2Go vacuum truck, in addition to sucking material into the truck, you are also sucking in air. Do you know how the air is cleaned as it enters the debris tank through the air hose, flows through the truck, and finally exits through the silencer?The air passes through a series of stages, which make up the filtration system. The filtration system is designed to clean the air coming into the system by removing all dirt, dust, and any foreign matter from the air. The goal of the filtration system is to remove all material from the  air stream before it reaches the blower. The purpose of the filtration system, through cleaning the air, is to protect the blower.

There are four stages to the filtration system:

First Stage: Debris Tank Collection

Second Stage: Cyclone

Third Stage: Filter Baghouse

Fourth Stage: Microstrainer

1. First, Waste material will enter the Vac2Go vacuum truck through the port at the rear of the machine or through the boom located on top of the tank. All 2012 and 2013 Vac2Go vacuum trucks come equipped with a standard or telescoping boom.

2. Once inside the tank, a deflector plate will knock the bulk of the material out of the air stream. This material will fall to the floor and begin to collect inside the debris tank. The deflector plate is located inside the debris tank and is positioned at the rear of the tank to immediately contact the material once inside the tank. The air will continue to flow through the tank to the other end.

3. Next, the air flows into the cyclone filter chamber.

4. Once the air enters the filter chamber, the cyclone will spin the air stream around the walls of the housing until it reaches the bottom of the cyclone house. This process is known as centrifugal force. This process will push the heavier/denser particles down. Any lighter material that is not dense enough to be pushed to the bottom of the cyclone house will return to the top of the cyclone chamber.

5. The air stream leaves the top of the cyclone chamber and enters the filter baghouse. The air stream will flow from the top of the filter baghouse to the bottom.

6. The air will then return to the top of the baghouse through a series of filter bags. While the loader is in operation, short bursts of compressed air are directed from the air cannon through the filter bags dislodging the dust in the baghouse collection hopper.

7. The now clean air flows from the baghouse outlet into the microstrainer housing. The microstrainer housing contains a metal basket. It is the safety dropout point for any objects which may accidentally enter the filtration system during servicing.

8.Finally, the air passes through the vacuum pump and out through the silencer and back into the atmosphere.
